chipperI’ve been taking life easier lately and catching up on some reading. Some of them are books I’d list as “a good way to spend an afternoon”. You know the books. They’re good, fun, and they’re done pretty much when you close the back cover. Nothing wrong with them at all, either.
But then there are the other kind. The ones that three weeks after reading, I’m still sort of fuzzy in the head, thinking about the characters or the story and even the writing itself. I read one of those, and I’m just coming to terms with it, and will be posting some thoughts about it very soon. I…might have a handle on some of them by now. The book? Butterfly Tattoo by Deidre Knight. Trust me, there will be an entire post dedicated to this book.
Today, however, I’m in a bit of a time crunch. I’ve finished the revisions to A Love Neverending (coming soon to LooseId *squee*) and I’ve heard from two readers that the revised ending worked for them. Yay! This means I actually have a couple days to relax before edits start up. Of course, I’m trying to finish a novel, outline the book which comes after ALN, and I volunteered to do two beta reads, so “downtime” has a different meaning for me than for other people.
And as if that isn’t enough: today Hub is laying new flooring in our living room. I helped ripping out the carpet and underlay and cleaning last night, but today Bub is feeling somewhat needy, so we’re watching Diego on the desktop computer (the tv having been dismantled so we could put in the living room floor.)
And…this is my weekend.
