book releases,
writer friends
One of the best things about being a writer is getting to know other writers. And my writer-friends have releases (imagine that!)
Today: RF Long releases her book with Samhain Publishing:
A love transcending race and culture…a secret that could cost everything.
A Tale of the Holtlands, Book 1
Elite Fey’na warrior Shan is driven only by hatred for Gilliad, the Lord of River Holt, the human responsible for the brutal slaying of his innocent sister. Vengeance will be his as soon as he can find a way to confront his enemy. His mind is set; his path chosen. Then he meets Jeren…
Jeren of River Holt flees for her life, desperate to escape the clutches of her brother, Gilliad, before his misuse of magic consumes what remains of his sanity. She finds safety and protection with Shan…but only so long as she hides her kinship with the Lord of River Holt. As they are pursued across the northern snow plains, their deepening trust turns to love.
A love that could shatter when he learns who, and what, she is.
Warning: This title contains violence, torture, and a wolf-lover’s worst nightmare. Readers may find their imaginations hopelessly ensnared in a beautiful and terrible world of magic.
Oh, but the verybest part of getting a book is the cover, and this one is Beeeeeeeautiful!

I’m watching the hockey game, and with Rememberance Day (aka Veterans Day) coming up, they’re doing a tribute to the men who’ve died this year overseas.
Don Cherry has tears in his eyes and his voice when he talks about them.
Me? I’m not crying. As this endless list of men scrolls on, the oldest one 32, I’m getting angrier and angrier. What a freaking g-d waste.
To the families of the men who have died, you have my utmost respect. As do they, for having the conviction to stand behind something they believed in despite the risk.

Yes, wordpress took all your pretty comments and put them into moderation! I think I’ve ironed it out, though.
So all you people who thought I was ignoring you (all three of you) I TOTALLY wasn’t. Really!
I’m in the writering cave, trying to make insane amounts of wordcount on a YA book I’m writing under my alter-ego name, so I’m afraid the High Fantasy stuff is on hold for a bit, however, one of my readers (thanks, Linda!) is urging me to finish But Where would they Live, so rest assured, that’s not going to wind up in the drawer of unfinisheds, I promise

And settled in. Trying to come up with a routine to post blog entries. I’m setting up my YA site (yay!) and taking care of real life in the meantime while not getting behind on the important thing - wordcount!

Thanks to the fantabulous MJ of Sizzle Designs, my template is fixed. Something about the footer code was screwy, so she ‘whipped me up’ a new one. Srsly. I love her longtime, just sayin’.
Her site launches Nov. 1, and if she’s half as good with her clients as she was with me, you’d be lucky to have her. (the site’s pretty, too!)

Still troubleshooting the sidebars - I’ve never used a three-column layout before! However, I love it. Love the colours, the image, the whole feel of the place.
Note the damask background? Yes, I love it, too.

After a few starts and stops, Rowan Larke (dot com) is up and ready to go.
As for Rowan herself…well, that’s another story altogether.
